The first shape step of a metal is a casting process usually followed by a second reshape step. A very common procedure is solid forming. SIEDLE is a top specialist in solid forming of brass by forging. Forging brass alloys is a highly specialised subject so that many languages have created their own denomination for it. In Germany we call it "Warmpressen", in France "matricage", in Italy "stampaggio ottone", in Great Britain "stamping" and in the USA "forging".
SIEDLE is using fully automatic forging lines, with high throughput trates as work-dependent as well as stroke-dependent forging presses. Utilizing vertical and horizontal processes, SIEDLE forges traditional drop forgings but also hollow forgings. In one step the annealed brass billets are reshaped into a contour as close as possible to the desired final geometry of the part. Using this engineering know-how SIEDLE customers have the benefit to save a lot of subsequent machining and rework.
After the forging opeartion the parts are trimmed and pierced if necessary. Then, the scale layer will be removed by blasting with brass chips.
